Hahnweiler belongs together with Rückweiler and Gimbweiler to the so-called ”Heidegemeinden” above Freisen. Two well-known classical place of discovery for agates during the building of A 62, the so-called “Leitzweiler Brücke” and the “Erntekreuz” are on the boundary Hahnweiler. The extensive fields around Hahnweiler offer today still many places for rock-hounding. Due to the large interest of many collectors from the neighbouring region it is however difficult to find a fine specimen. Very good finding possibilities are given also with construction-workings in Hahnweiler itselves. Typically for the agate-nodules from the region Hahnweiler is an early formed cloud agate, as well as the occurrence of gravitational banded agate (16, 22).Depending to the finding situation the agates can be very similar to those of the classical finds of the “Leitzweiler Brücke” or already completely wheathered to a opaque, partly much yield porcelain agate.
