Near to the little township of Wendelsheim collectors are able to find intensively coloured little agate nodules. One famous place is the Steigerberg Hill. Agates can be found here in situ (e.g. at their place of origin) or waterworn and edge smoothened. Those pebbles are showing a nice and structurated skin so that there is no need to cut and polish them.

Typical for this region is a n intensively red colorization that is highly searched after by collectors. In this region originated are agate-nodules from the superspherulithical type (e.g. one or several over-sized spherulitics are dominating the pattern of the agate). “water-level-agates” are only seldom found. Sometimes “one of a kind agates” (very unusually formed and colored agates)show up.
