The Brothers Kuhn Quarry in Waldhambach is very familiar to serious agate-collectors around the world. From this location a lot of fine coloured agates were coming from.

Only in a few cases the agate-nodules are reaching a size bigger than 4 inches - but they are showing an interesting fortification-pattern in white, brown and red.

The polishing can produce on the surface of these agates a fine relief that causes a light-refraction-effekt that looks similar to the “iris-effect” The white light is split off in its spectral-colours.

A big number of specimen from this location are showing a spherulitical pattern.

It is not allowed to collect minerals in the quarry without permission. Only members of a mineralogical club can ask for permits.
