home / agates worldwide / Europe / Germany / Saarland / Wadern

These agates are from the trade area „at the neck “, in Wadern, Saarland. Findings were made between September 2006 and May 2007. The finding zone was not bigger than 30 squarefeet in a vucanic hostrock. Nodular agates and vein-agates did occur beside carbonates, such as dolomite or calcite. The vein agates are showing a beautifully jagged picture, because they formed over scalenoedrical carbonates. The occurrence of “waterlevel-agate-banding” in vein-agates is very unusual for agates from the Saar-Nahe-Region.
