The Vollmersbacher Hiewelsche was known as site for geodes and a few agates in the 1950 ies, when it was a road cut at this point. 2010 this place was widened slightly, to create a footpath. Although the construction work was only small, I still managed to salvage a few nodules. The shape and outer skin of the nodules corresponds quite exactly to those from the  the Vollmersbachtal quarry. The proportion of agate is fairly low.

Mossy-agate-like formations, which were mostly already wheathered and decomposed and pseudomorphs after zeolites or aragonite (?) were typical. The nodules reached a diameter of 20 cm.
