The Trautzberg is a much visited agate finding area, whose earliest documentary mention originates from the Middle Ages. On this mountain the agate mines of Freisen are to have lain, which are not accurately located however until today. The agates of the Trautzberg can become quite large (until 40 cm).
Due to the high pressure, which collectors exercise on this area one cannot count however on more than small specimen, if one visits this classical locality.
