“....The town is quite small and in middle of no where near I-20 in western Texas and north of Balmorhea, Texas. I read that the agates have been found in the alluvial deposits around Toyah, so I went there to investigate (April 2010). The only places I can check are road cuts along the road from Balmorhea to Toyah and I had found few low-quality agates there. I was able to obtain few better agates from an old rock shop at Balmorhea. The agates are generally clear to white, sometimes with banding. The agates with black to white plumes had been found there in gravel areas...”
