Algerian Agates are found in the middle of the Sahara desert - near Tademait at the Tidikelt oasis near the track between Ardar and In Salah.

Theses agates are found on secondary deposits in a brownish inhomogenous hardened conglomerate. The primarly hostrock of this material is still unknown. Eroded specimen are showing an interesting structured skin that is presenting sometimes a smothening trough polishing by the desert-wind too. Inside the agate nodules are showing pastel-colours in pinkish, yellowish and white tones.
