A very well-known discovery site for rockhounds in the USA are the Agate Flats north of Jeffrey City in Central Wyoming. Generations of collectors searched these flats for small non banded chalcedonies, which have beautiful dendritic or mossy-like inclusions. On Agate Flats chalcedony is occuring secondarily, and a rockhound must dig meanwhile a foot deeply, in order to find the desired specimens. The primary occurence of Sweetwater Moss agate was unknown long time. Nowadays the origin is located in close proximity to Cedar Ridge.
