In a sandstone layer of the upper multicolored sandstone findings of jaspers and agates in typical formation can be made on the fields in close proximity to Schöngleina. The findings here are sandstone carnelians, which do not show a classical fortification structure, but a varied picture of growing together of macro-crystalline quartz and low-red, partly approximately concentrically formed carnelian-aggregates. They show large similarity with “Sandstein-carnelians” from francs - structural agreements are even with the so-called Puma agates from Malargüe in Argentina.
