In the early 1990ies a tschechian Geologist, Prof.Petranek, brougth the first specimens of this unusual agates to Europe. These agates are formed in a sedimentary host-rock. They are forming peudomorphs after mineral-aggregates that are gone now. The agate is the substitution for the former mineral, that is now soluted (Baryte, Celestite or Anhydrite). There are given to neighboured deposits for this material: Rutbah, a small village and the Ga´ara Depression, booth in the western part of Iraq.
J.Zenz is given more informations about these localities in his book ”Agates” (Bode Verlag 2005 ) on the pages 298-299
