Smallest agate formations in white, grey and black, which can be found in the palaeontological most interesting chert, justify the denomination of this incomparably rock on this website. In the Rhynie Chert (Rhynie is a very small village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland) are very well conserved evidents for the oldest completely received terrestrial ecological system. This ecological system originates from the lower devonian (more exactly from a time approximately 396 million years ago) - and is presenting differently terrestrial plants and with them living together very early insects.

Because of its enormous scientific meaning the unfortunately nevertheless only very small place of discovery was placed under protection. Collecting here is strictly forbidden.
