home / agates worldwide / Europe / Germany / Palatinate / Reichenbach near Weilerbach

When I visited the agate show in Niederwoerresbach 2013, Benno Rahm, a well-known mineral agate collectors showed three rocks to me and wanted to test my knowledge about agate sites. It was easy to embarrass me because the pieces came from an agate-location at Reichenbach in the vicinity of Weilerbach that was not opened for public since the 1960ies and was never been very productive in any way. The agate bearing fields, where you could find also silicified wood (Prototaxites) and nice colored amethysts apart vividly banded agates are nowadays unfortunately transformed into green areas.
