“...Obtained thru a trade, the agates had been picked off the ground at one ranch near Alpine, Texas and apparently, most agates are white to colorless, and few can be cut into thin slabs to reveal Iris (rainbow) effect. Some agates have blue, orange and yellow colors, sometimes with black to yellow plume inclusions. I wonder if there are any more and better agates at that ranch, but it's the Big Bend of Texas we're talking where it's quite rare for anyone to be allowed to collect something from the cattle ranches. The ranchers don't like anyone digging holes in their ranches or anything that can endanger the cattle...”
