Two interesting agate-finding-localities are the neighboured areas of El Pajarito ( 1, 2, 3 ) and Passo del Berwin east of the township of Esquel. In this areas collectors are able to find windpolished agate specimen between very similar looking rocks on the surface in a desert-like region. This highly reflecting surface given to the rocks by the sandblast of an everlasting desert wind looks almost like a man made polishing - but its all natural !
The nodules are showing a pattern of fine banded agate in a lot of pastel-tones like pinkish, reddish, yellowish and bluish. Intensively coloured specimens are very rare.
Only very rare pseudomorphs after needle-like crystals do occur.
