On the fields above Niederwoerresbach a find of agate or jasper succeeds only rarely. The reason are the “Kuseler layers”(“Fanglomerate”) that arise to a large extent here. These are sedimentary layers and they are containing a multiplicity of bright, quarzitic pebbles. From there it the situation resembles here on Waeschertskaulen above Idar. The agates occurring here are usually fragments with decomposition-caused colors.
