The agate nodules introduced here originate from a red-brown mica phorphyrite near to Mockzig, 3km southeast Altenburg. The size of the nodules can reach rarely up to 40mm. The intensive red coloration makes them particularly interesting. Beside nodules  here also vein agates occur.
