The agate-finding locality Mirasoles is situated east of the township of Esquel. The pattern of agates from this region is very charakteristically: The nodules are separated in one part with dominating fine banded multicolored agate and a second part composed of chalcedony in different types of structure (cloudy-like, mossy-agate-like or bluish-greyish translucent not banded chalcedony ). Only if the nodule is splitted exactly trough the fine banded part this distinctive separation does not show up.
Some specimen are showing well formed spherulithical growings. Only one specimen was showing the “Liesegang-Phenomenon”.
More informations about this locality are given from Peter Jeckel in his article “Achate aus Patagonien” Lapis 10, 2005.
