“...Agates are found in the beach rocks near Maidens. Most agates are fractured and many are very weak and porous. I found a spot north of town with many agates up to 100 mm, but they were all so weak that you could crush them with your fingers. The better agates are south of Maidens at several spots along the beach as far south as the lighthouse by the Turnberry Golf Course. Colors are white/red/yellow, sometimes with fantastic banding, but usually porous and cracked. Agates can be up to 100 mm.

Agates can also be found in the fields in the region but I have not personally collected any agates from fields...”
