The Michipikoten island is situated in the Lake Superior and belongs to the Thunderbay District in Ontario. At the coast just like at the exposed rock inside this island findings of intensively colored and beautifully contrasting agates in the host rock were possible.

These agates belong to the family of the Laker agates, although they belong to the few, which can be dug in situ. Collecting agates on Michipikoten Iceland is subject nowadays to strong restrictions.
