In close proximity to Kilianstaedten in the Wetterau beautiful petrified woods from the permian age (about 250 million years old) can be found. Often the wood belongs to the Dadoxylon (a fossil kind of fern), which possesses on the inside a quite large core. This can be replaced then by beautifully red colored agates.
