These agates where found near Kambay in the mountain ranges of Madhya Pradesh. The dendritic pattern of these agates is formed when manganese ores creeps into cracks and fissures caused in agates by petrographic influences such as moves of the hostrock or wheathering processes.

It was on the banks of the river Kane, that the Mogul governor (Nawab of Bundelkhand) developed the art of cutting dendritic agates called Sazar in Persia about 500 years ago. Sazar was considered to be the holy stone during the renaissance period by all three religious groups of that time, namely muslims, christians and jews. This was due to the resemblance of dendrites to the burning bushes of Moses.
