Agates from Hammerstein are very rare specimen. Sometimes - when new buildings will be constructed - a few nodules can be found. These porcellain-agates show red and white colours in combination.
In a few cases they show the “Liesegang - Phenomenon” (concentrical secondary colorization without a relation to the common fortification-banding of the specimen). The piece that is shown here is presenting the phenomenon looking like a brick-wall.
Agates from the fields on the ridge over hammerstein are showing more brownish colors.
