Greasy Cove is one of the famous finding-locations for Tennesse Paint Rock agate. This place of discovery is considered as exploited. It probably supplied some of the most beautiful Tennessee agates to the collectors market. They occured in the typical roundish, partial verrucous and superficially brightly colored nodules. These boulders are typical for agate formations in a sedimentary rock. After a layer of yellow, rather mossy-like material follows a layer of yellow banded agate, which always shows a red signature in its pattern. Usually the nodules had a diameter of approximately 80 mm - 90 mm.
