In the area of Grand Marais in suitable place (fields, gravel pits, beaches) also agates shifted and rounded by glaciers (laker, laker agates) can be found. With the gravel occurring here the appearance of the “Mary Ellen Jasper” is interesting. This is the evidence that the geological layer bearing this silicified stromatolithic fossils is not limited only  in one spot.
