At the hillside of the Gemickel Mountain above Grünbach again and again excellent vein-agates, which can be very colored, can be found. They usually consist of translucent chalcedony, which is colored by yellow and red bandings. Now and then one can recognize with the naked eye that the soft and broad bands are consisting of small pigment-points. A further type shows the formation of a broad early formed, usually darkly colored band of chalcedony at the outside edge of the nodule. Following are spherulithics, which began apparently their growth at cristallization-points within this volume. If the Chalcedony-band is transparent, the lower surface of the spherulithics in their whole appearance looks like a surreal landscape of cones. Both types occur also as opaque porcelain-like vein-agates.
