Further finding possibillities were offered to agate collectors on the Freisener Hoehe, when road construction activities for the extension of the armoring race and the connection of L 315 took place in the mid 1990ies. The agates of this finding zone are showing similarities with those, which were made with the building of the wind mill park in 2001, differed however also in some points. The form of the nodules is here more regularly, usually spherical to drop-shaped. Also the nodules in the deepest place achieved with the building of the armoring race, in one lower above a small valley was lying, enormous sizes up to a diameter of 30 cm. These almonds were found in sediments, ao the nodules were moved and concentrated to this place. Beside this important place of discovery the remaining find range was clearly poorer.
The agates of this locality are showing multicolor nuances in red, yellow and even purple. Holospherulitical formations * come also from this region. They form the most unusual patterns, both which their structure, and the colours concern. Also it came here to the formation of beautiful “Membrantruemmer -Achate”.
Then years after the construction works an agate of this place was repolished, because near to the surface was a clearly visible and disturbing crack. While sawing of a very thin slab from this specimen stone, the first Iris-Agate for this region (maybe the first for Europe) was discovered. The very thin slab (1 to 4 mm ) showed a very wide an colourful iridiscent banding and was formed into four very special cabochons.
* these are spherulitical formations not rooting on a surface. Their crystallization took quasi free-floating in the silicic acid gel place. Furthermore this Holospherulitics were not deposited gravitatively in layers in the lower range of the nodule, but spread in destincitve bandings
This place of discovery is a topic of the article " the agates of the Freisener Hoehe” of Lapis 6/2002.
