Eckersweiler is one of the most famous agate-finding-localities around Freisen. This village is famous for the variety of agates in colours, structures and for the sometimes very large nodules that can be found here. But it has become difficult to collect any second class agate these times because of points mentioned above.

One of the most important finding regions are the heigths that are connected trough the so called “tank road” - because it leads to the artillery range area. Agates found on fields on these heigths are showing a wide range of colours: bluegrey to brownish tones, intensively yellow, deeply red and a vibrant orange. The most desired colour of all is greenish. Vein-agates do occur beside agates in nodular shape.

Before entering a field you should ask for permission from the owner. Some fields are strictly forbidden to enter.
