At the Dripping Spring Mountain on a level of approximately 1400 feet a rich place of discovery for agates was discovered and exploited until exhaustion. Extended prospections lead to a further place close by, which was even richer in agates. Also today there still good specimen can be found but they have become scarce. They are situated in a shelf-like zone. This is typical for agates formed in sediments.
