It has since been reclamated and is an extinct bed, although an occasional egg may be found under the soil around the perimeter of the old bed. The main feature of the Cherokee John eggs is a prominent, distinct "button" located either above or below the core material. The cores are usually agate and quartz, with occasional manganese pseudomorph activity...”
