During “Intergem 2008” ( the gemstone fair in Idar-Oberstein ) a part of the area of the company Budau in Idar was used as parking lot for visitors and was for three days freely accessible. The company Budau had begun in the year before to make extension work on their own area. They opened with excavations a very interesting former lava level which possessed an upper and lower nodule-bearing horizon. Most nodules of these two zones contained unfortunately only carbonates. With something patience a few agate-nodules could be extracted from the hostrock.
