In the area of Binn Hill a Landfill site is given a good possibillity for making agate-findings. It is allowed for sophisticated collectors to enter and to collect agates (without disturbing the working processes).

The agates of this locality are showing a fine-lined banding and pinkish, brownish and red colours.

At Binn farm ist is possible to find agates too.Typically for this site is a greenish skin and a white fortification-pattern inside the nodule.

More informations about scottish agates are given in Dr.H.G. Macpherson´s book “agates” (published by the British Museum (Natural History) and the National Museums of Scotland).
