home / agates worldwide / Europe / Germany / Rhinehessia / Bad Kreuznach

Near to the township of Bad Kreuznach some sedimentation of Nahe-River gravel is situated. The agate-nodules which are able to be found are rounded and have smoothed edges, because they were transported a long distance. The long time working erosion did give them typical colours. Because of the little dimension of this deposits there were only a few nodules to find for the collectors. But it is worth the work - the agates are showing very interesting patterns: Some are showing destinctive  pseudomorphical formations after nodular crystals. Very interesting is the occurence of an well formed agate-breccia, found from Mr.Rothengatter ( a passionated agate-collector of this area ).
