During th constructin of the Autobahn A63 in the area of Alzey again and again findings of agate-nodules were made. The size of these nodules was up to 20 cm in diameter, however these were often filled with macro-crystalline Quartz. Also, these nodules were often cracked. The smaller nodules contained mostly grayish, bluish, and partly white banded agate. Rarely occurred also reddish and brownish agate. The presence of beautiful violet coloured Amethyst with agate is interesting.
