A gravel-pit near to the village Arcen in the province of Limburg is producing agate- and jasper-bearing gravel that was transported by the river Maas from eastern directions. The primarly source of this material is situated in the mountains of the Ardennes and the high Venn Ridge.

With a little luck, you can find agates emmigrated from a much longer distance. Evidence for this is the discovery of a piece of Åsby Diabas (13), which originates from Sweden and was transported here. It includes beside several agate-nodules some typical formed crystals of plagioclase. This is distinctive for this swedish location.
