In the region of Sassari near to Alghero is the place ofrigin for a grey chalcedony, which can show also a agate-like banding. This chalcedony is forming veins in the hostrock. Pieces with several kilograms weight and an soft blue hue were offered in the year 2004 by Italian collectors on the Saint-Marie-aux-Mines mieral-fair. The lure-similar formation of the chalcedony aggregates was particularly attractive at these pieces.
