home / agates worldwide / Northamerica / USA / Arizona / Chimney Beds, 4th of July Peak

Around the 4th of July Peak are a multiplicity of smaller agate occurrences under those the most well-known the rich occurrences of the "Chimney Beds" are. Agates occur in a loose volcanic sediment, in which the agates are to be found easy, if a rockhound will be digging in a so far unaffected place.

Agates of these places of discovery in the bright pastels blue and rare pink-violett appear very rare. Usually the  agates are fine banded in white colour within the clear Chalcedony.

More information about this locality are given in the book “agates” from Johann Zenz, Bode Verlag, Haltern 2005, page 474 - 475
