home / agates worldwide / Europe / Germany / Rhinehessia / Wendelsheim / Kuhacker

Near to the little township of Wendelsheim collectors are able to find intensively coloured little agate nodules. One famous place is the Kuhacker. Agates can be found here in situ (e.g. at their place of origin) or waterworn and edge smothened. Those pebbles are showing a nice and structurated skin so that there is no need to cut and polish them. Typical for this region is a red and yellow color- combination that is highly searched after by collectors. In this region originated are agate-nodules from the superspherulithical typus (e.g. one or several over-sized spherulitics are dominating the pattern of the agate).  Pseudomorphic agates are occuring here too. One typus is the well known “scolecite-agate” (see Flonheim).
