The so called “Army Quarry” is situated near to the Backesberg Quarry, directly at the road to Kusel. But the formation of the agates is absolutely different. In Backesberg Quarry most agates are vein-agates. In the “Army Quarry” almost all notable agates are agate-nodules.

These nodules are having several characteristics:

-a reddish coloured skin

- a deformated pattern

- pale colours. More intensively colors are rare.

- yellowish calcite does occur.

It is absolutely forbidden to collect any minerals at this place, because this location is a part of the artillery range area. Militarypolice is controling even this abandoned area regulary.
