The lucky break probably plays a more important role with finding new places of discovery then detailed but often unsuccessful planning. The agate collector Rainer Hoffmann Rothe found with taken out his dog beautiful agate nodules in a region, unsuspicious even for magmatic rocks. On Radeberg Mountain, above the village George Weierbach with the construction of forest tracks two places appeared, in which agate nodules could be found. The upper place of discovery at a steep cliff, delivered however only small white-grey banded nodules. The second, more deeply lain place offered very beautifully colored nodules up to a size of 25 cm in diameter. Unfortunately this material was extremely cracked, so only dome-polished specimen stayed for the collectors.
