If you should plan a touristic program in the region of Idar Oberstein, then you should visit the ancient Copper-Mine in the Hosenbachtal valley. After the trip into the mine there is the possibillity to visit (depending upon season) also the fields near Berschweiler (Kirn) that is reachable following the Hosenbachtal. The fields forwards and behind the little village are offering possibilities for finding small pastel-coloured agate nodules and interesting green-coloured crystalized quartz.

While pipeline construction workings at the Staufenberg Mountain, little agates could be found too.
