In the Lily Mine in the Department of Ica in Peru good qualities of gem silica do occur. Chalcedony is called "Gem Silica" if it contains inclusions of Chrysocolla, an amorphous copper silicate that is colorizing the material in a beautiful bluish, blue-green or green hue. The chalcedony is formed in veins and shows little or no banding. If small glittering quartz crystals can be found on its surface it is appreciated by Jewelers in the quality "druzy". But also the intense blue cabochons made from this material are enjoying great popularity. Rarely, dendrites and plumes of Chrysocolla can be found in the chalcedony-veins.
